WHATS SUP
Have you ever wanted to try a paddle board or as some call it Sup Board? There are so many various sites and reading materials on just the sport of paddle boarding. There is paddle board surfing, touring, white water paddle boarding, paddle board yoga, racing and people who take these exotic trips all over the world on paddle boards just to name a few! I read an article on a family who decided to bring their young baby and daughter on a trip down the Ganges River in India. How exciting that must have been to experience the slow meandering paddle down this beautiful river taking in the jungle and wildlife all around them, and meeting people along the way.
Paddle boarding is a wonderful way to get out on a body of water and seeing it, in a sort of slow motion ride, that allows you to take in your surroundings in a very different light. Orchid Bay is just the right place to try out this sport. Sitting on Lowry's Bight, a body of water that is protected from the Caribbean Ocean by Cerros Peninsula, makes for calm flat water that is perfect for any level of paddle boarding. There are plenty of beautiful birds along the coast as well as wildlife that lives in the protected mangroves that dot the Bay's coast. I personally like to go into the many little inlets and rest for a while trying out some yoga moves or just taking in the sunshine.
The Crimson Orchid Inn has twelve paddle boards and two kayaks to rent. The hourly rate is $10.00 US or $40.00 US for the day. We are also setup for paddle board yoga having the needed anchors to keep the boards in place. Come on down and give it a try! Happy Supping!
